Protecting children is the responsibility of us all. But certain professionals due to their contact with children, have special responsibilities. These people are called mandated reporters and are of critical importance in child abuse prevention. Recent changes to Child Protective Services have further expanded the categories of professions that are now recognized as mandated reporters and requires them to complete three (3) hours of training on recognizing signs and symptoms of abuse and how to report suspected abuse.

The Crime Victims’ Center of Fayette County offers this training which is approved by the Department of Education, the Department of State and the Department of Human Services. The training also qualifies for Act 48 credit hours and CEU’s for licensed therapists and social workers under Act 31.

Individuals wanting to schedule this training or have questions as to whom is required to have the training may contact Pat Mowen at 724-438-1470 or at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..
